Students On Ice present Antarctica's Ecosystems: Evolution and Adaptation through Deep Time

Published: April , 2011
Published by: Carelton University Events Calendar

Seven Carleton University students who travelled to Antarctica in February will give a presentation of their learning experience during their expedition and share some scientific observations. The presentations will demonstrate how the Antarctic rock and fossil record reveals a dynamic history of Earth's coldest continent. The presentations will also touch on biology, climate change and ocean sciences.

These students joined an international group of educators on an expedition organized by Students on Ice. Their instructors included Dr. Natalia Rybczynski of the Canadian Museum of Nature and Dr. Claudia Schröder-Adams of Carleton University. Their course focused on the evolution of Antarctic ecosystems over geological time.
